Cost of Crime

This page is designed to provide you with information and examples of how crime impacts your city and details how crime costs dollars to the tax payer.  The Community Support Program believes that reducing crime even by a small percentage in a major city could save millions or more every year.  This is money that could be spent developing communities, creating jobs, providing social services, and ultimately improving the quality of life for citizens.  Instead of these improvements, millions and even billions of dollars are spent every year as a result of high priority crime and its impact is felt everywhere.  We know local, state, and federal police do everything in their power to keep us safe.  However, in the nations most affected cities the police and city government can't keep up with crime rates constantly on the rise.  It is more important now than ever before that the citizens living in these areas need to be informed of how crime in their area is affecting them and the place they live and work.  That's where the Community Support Program comes in.  Below, you will find information on crime rates, the cost of crime, links to check your area, all meant to arm you with the information you need to help the local government bring technology to your area that will make a difference.  All the statistics and information below is sourced directly from the Department of Justice or Neighborhood Scout.
